You can now use Goodnotes AI to provide personalized support to your students, encouraging independent learning in a safe environment. Please note this is currently only available in Singapore and the UK.
Set up personalised student support:
- Open any of your lessons (after Goodnotes AI is enabled by the admin).
- Go to Prep Mode.
- Tap an answer zone where you would like to add personalized support for your students (learn more about answer zones here).
- Select the Goodnotes AI icon from the object menu above the answer zone.
- A Goodnotes AI window will launch in the Sidebar (you can also open it in a pop-up window using your Sidebar Preferences).
- With the answer zone selected, click "Generate Hint" in the Sidebar. Goodnotes AI will generate rubrics based on the question. You can:
- ✏️ Edit the hints (e.g., remove unwanted points or add your own) and click "Done" to save changes.
- ✅ Approve the hints.
- ❌ Discard the hints.
- After approval, a confirmation tag will appear on the question, and students can click "Get Hint" when they need help.
- When they click “Get Hint”, one hint at a time will be shown to your students, based on your approved hints.
Managing Student Interaction
- Go to Feedback Mode.
- View a specific student's interaction with your hints on an answer zone by selecting:
a. Page View
- Select a student from the participant selector
- Click the button on the top right of the answer zone (number of hints given is shown if the student has requested hints)
- View the interaction for the selected area in the Sidebar
b. Question view
- Select a specific question from the slide bar
- Click the button on the top right of the answer zone (number of hints given is shown if the student has requested hints)
- View the interaction for the selected area in the Sidebar
Removing Goodnotes AI’s personalized student support feature
- Tap Goodnotes AI from the Tool bar.
- Select an answer with set up.
- Tap “Trash” bin from the approved rubrics
- Confirm removing Goodnotes AI for the selected answer zone
- Once Goodnotes AI is deleted, students will not be able to interact with it anymore. (Remark: The chat history remains visible to students if they have requested hints before)
Chat history will be stored in cloud and stored for 30 days after deletion.
Reporting a response
As this feature uses a generative AI model, it will occasionally provide incorrect information. However if you find that it’s regularly providing incorrect information, or has other issues, please flag it to us as follows.
- Tap on the ”Flag” icon at the bottom of generation.
- Fill out the form to share your feedback share with our team.
How to get support
- Open Goodnotes AI from the sidebar
- Tap the “?” icon for the dropdown menu which is located at the top right.

Guidelines for students to use
“Icon” and "Get Hint" buttons are only available when a teacher has approved at least 1 hint within the document.
- Advise your students to try answering the question independently before clicking the "Get Hint" button on the answer zone
- Goodnotes AI will provide one hint at a time based on the student’s work, and the teacher-approved rubrics.
- The student can click “Get Hint” again to request another hint after making changes to their answer.
- If your students want to see previous responses, direct them to tap Goodnotes AI from the tool bar, select the relevant answer zone, and view the past request and hints.
