A Student is not seeing a Class Folder

If a student is unable to see a Class Folder or it's lessons, it could be due to Goodnotes 6 not yet synchronizing the recent addition to the Class Folder.

For first-time users

In cases where the student is being added to a Class Folder for the first time and no Class Folder or School name is visible in the Sidebar, they should use the Restore Lessons function within the Gear Menu under Settings > Troubleshooting.

Restoring Lessons should then switch on the Goodnotes Cloud connection to your School Organisation on the apps side and add your Organization to the Sidebar along with any Class Folders they have been added to.

For Students enrolled in multiple Class Folders

For students who already have existing Class Folders displayed in their Sidebar but cannot view the newly added one, instruct them to perform a logout/login cycle to refresh the session. If this does not resolve the issue, please refer to the advanced troubleshooting steps available here:

  1. Make sure the issue is not widespread. Are other Students seeing the Class folder in their apps? If yes move on to Step 2. If no, move on to Step 3.
  2. Ask the Student to try deleting and reinstalling Goodnotes 6 and logging in again with their SSO account making sure not to use Hide My Email. If they still do not see the new Class folder after this, head to Step 4.
  3. Create a new Class folder, add the same group of Students and create a new Lesson in here. Does this lesson sync to all your students? If yes, problem solved! Delete the old Class folder and use the new one.*
  4. Contact Support and provide them with the Diagnostic Data from the student's device and the Teacher's device and the name of the Class folder in case we can find this.

* It is not currently possible to delete a Class Folder once it has been created but we are working on adding this soon.
