You may currently have existing documents and class content in Goodnotes 6. These cannot be automatically synced with your Classroom files. As Goodnotes 6 and Classroom use different syncing services, you cannot directly sync files between the two platforms.
How can I move existing materials from Goodnotes 6 to Classroom?
It is still possible to manually move your existing content from Goodnotes 6 into your Classroom workspace. You must manually export and then import the documents:
Export the documents from Goodnotes 6
- Open Goodnotes 6 and go to the Documents tab
- Select the documents you want to bring into Classroom
- Tap Export
- Select "Goodnotes Document" as the format you want to export them in
- Tap Export in the top right corner of the pop-up
- Select Classroom as a destination in the Share Sheet
- Choose where to import the documents in Classroom

What if Classroom is not appearing in the Share Sheet?
If the app is not showing up in the Share Sheet, save the documents in the Files app first.
Then, open Classroom, tap the + button in the library view and select "Import".
Find the location where you saved your documents and confirm.
You can import documents into a Class Folder directly where they will be automatically shared with your students, or first import them into your private documents library under "My Documents.
Import the documents from the Library View
- In Classroom, go to the Documents View or Class Folder (depending on whether your want your import to be viewable straight away by your Students)
- Select the + icon as if you were creating a new document
- Choose Import
- Navigate through your Files using the pop-up window and then select the file you want to import
- Select Open in the top right corner of the window
