Students aren’t seeing my changes

If you are making changes to Classroom documents which are not visible to students, it may be an issue with the way your account or document is set up.

Firstly, you must be using Prep Mode to make changes which are visible to all students. Alternatively, you can use Feedback in Teach Mode to make individual annotations to a Student's page.

Everything you write on the Whiteboard under Teach Mode will only be seen on your device. The document you are changing must also be shared with a class of Students through a student portal.

Check that Students have access to the Lesson

Students will only be able to see your changes if they are part of the Class Folder where the Lesson is located.

  • On the Classroom homepage, tap on the name of your institution.
  • From here, press on the relevant class folder.

The class folder should have a blue shared icon to indicate that it has been shared with students. If it does not have this icon, refer to our Adding Students guide.

Quick fixes

If your document is set up correctly and the issue is still occurring, attempt the following quick fixes:

  • Run a Quick Check in Classroom, this can be found by tapping on the Lesson title in the Nav Bar and tapping Check Now.
  • In the settings of your device and the Student's device, turn Wi-Fi off, wait 30 seconds and turn it back on.
  • Check that both your devices are able to load web pages at a normal speed.
  • Force Quit Classroom and Goodnotes 6 and reopen. Make a change on the Lesson and see if this now syncs. If changes haven't been synced, they may be lost in this process.
  • Log out of Classroom and Goodnotes 6 and log back in again. If changes haven't been synced, they may be lost in this process.
  • Delete and reinstall the apps. This will reset any cache and also make sure that all apps are on the latest version and so running on the same schema. Make sure your Student has a backup of their work.

If none of these have worked, please contact your institution's Admin.
