Explore the Nav Bar

The Nav Bar is a super important part of Classroom! It shows you which Mode you are in, and contains all your options for sharing, exporting and navigating your Lessons. You will also find all your open tabs here and can switch between different Lessons easily.

Where is the Nav Bar?

The Nav Bar is the area above your Lessons and above the Toolbar. Here you can find the following:

  • Home Button
  • Sidebar or Grid View Toggle
  • Search
  • Teach Mode and Prep Mode
  • Add a New Page
  • Bookmark a Page
  • Share and Export Menu
  • More - including formatting and settings

What can I use the Nav Bar for?

The most commonly used feature of the Nav Bar is for switching between Teach and Prep Modes. You can find these Modes right in the centre of the Nav Bar and whichever Mode you are using will be highlighted. To enter a different Mode, simply tap on it and you will notice your Mode change and the Nav Bar change accordingly.

Sidebar

You can access the Sidebar on the left-hand side of the Nav Bar. The Sidebar allows you to easily scroll through all your thumbnails, bookmarks or outlines, as well as reorganise page order, delete pages or export batches of pages.

You can open Sidebar on the side of the page, or set it to open in a pop-out window.

Search

The Search function is a very useful tool. It can be used to search through any Lesson, whether handwritten or a PDF (so long as the imported PDF contains an OCR layer for text recognition). Initially, Teachers will only be able to search their own text and not student work.

New Page

In the New Page icon on the right-hand side, you will find a variety of options for adding a new page, including adding from a template you have used recently, adding an image, scan or photo, or importing another document in its place.

Bookmark

Tapping on the Bookmark icon will favorite your current page, ready to be found again easily in the Bookmarks section in the Sidebar.

Share and Export Menu

The penultimate icon is the Share and Export Menu. Here you can choose how you want to share your Lesson for collaboration, turn your Lessons into Assignments to be shared with your Students, export to PDF, or choose your Presentation Mode for connecting to an external screen. Alternatively, create shared Class Folders for your class Lessons which will automatically share resources with everyone in a class.

More

In the More Menu, you can find options to copy a page, rotate it, add it to Outline, change its Template, jump to a specific page, clear it or move it to Trash. You can also find Settings for Classroom Lessons here.
