Choose your Smart View
You can find Smart Views in Teach Mode by tapping on the Eye Icon on the right-hand side of the Student Navigator. You can see this highlighted in the screenshot below.
Smart Views will give you the following options:
- By Page - This will allow you to browse through the entire lesson including all annotations made by a particular Student. You can use the Student Navigator at the bottom of the screen to scroll through each Student's work on the current page.
- By Question - This allows you to see a grid or list with all Student's answers to a question. This view will require you to have previously created Answer Zones.
View by Page
The View by Page Smart View allows you to scroll through the document as a particular Student, letting you see all their annotations to your resources as well as answers to Assignment questions.
The Student Navigator at the bottom of the screen will allow you to scroll through the Students in your Class as well as switch between Feedback and Whiteboard.
- Feedback - Anything you write in Feedback will be shown to the Student that you are currently viewing. Use this to provide hints or grading to your Students.
- Whiteboard - Anything you write while in Whiteboard will not be visible to the Students. Use this to write up thoughts you want to keep to yourself or share with the class on the presenter screen without effecting their copies. Whiteboard is mainly a teaching aid rather than a grading tool. To make edits to the document that all students can see, please use Prep Mode.
View by Question
For a comprehensive overview of class performance, use View by Question to see all the Student's answers displayed together per question. To use View by Question, you must first create Answer Zones. The View by Question Smart View will then show you all answers to a particular Answer Zone.
The Student Navigator in View by Question will not show you the Student list, as all Students are displayed together. Instead, you will be able to switch between Feedback and Whiteboard.
- Feedback: Use Feedback to provide marks and feedback for each or your Students.
- Whiteboard: Switching to Whiteboard will remove the Student answers and give you a field to write your own answer which can then be used for the Compare to Model Answer feature in Smart Clusters.
Tapping the List Settings button on the top right of the toolbar will open a popup menu to customize how answers are displayed by using the Zoom tool and choosing how to list alphabetically.
Tip: To make using View By Question easier, make sure the question title is included in the Answer Zone when you create it!
Use Smart Clusters to Grade Quickly
You can use Goodnotes Classroom's AI-powered tools to grade your Assignments quickly. The Smart Clusters tool can be used to group all answers to a question by:
- Similarity to each other
- Similarity to a Model Answer created by the Teacher
- Similarity to a chosen Students answer
