Creating, Sharing and Managing Lessons

Creating a new Lesson is just like creating a new Notebook in Goodnotes 6. If you haven't done this before, this guide will help you learn how to create a new Lesson, share it with your Class, and organise your folders

What is a Lesson and how can I make one?

A Lesson is simply a document in Classroom that is interactive for students. This can be a handwritten page or an imported PDF to annotate for example. In order to create a new Lesson, head to one of the following views:

  • Documents View: Creating a new Lesson here will keep it private until you are ready to share it by moving it to a Class Folder.
  • Under your School Tab: Creating a new Lesson in a Class Folder will share it automatically with all students enrolled in the Class Folder.

Once you are in your preferred view:

  1. Tap the New + icon in the top left.
  2. Choose an option to create your Lesson, import a file or create a new folder here!

If you choose to import a document, you can then look through your Files in the Share Sheet and tap Done to Import.

Sharing my Lesson with the Class

If you choose to create your Lesson in your Class folder, it will already be shared with the Students in that Class. If you created your new Lesson in your personal Documents Folder, then you will need to Share your document manually. You can do this in either of the following ways:

  • In the Documents View: Using the Select Tool, choose your Lesson by tapping on it, and then choose Move. Here you will see an option to move it to a Class folder
  • As a shared Class folder: Create shared Class folders which will automatically share all Lessons included with students.

Tapping on a Lessons' name will bring up options for that Lesson. You can:

  • Duplicate it
  • Move it
  • Open it in a new window
  • Export it
  • Share it for Collaboration
  • Move it straight to Trash
